home for the holidays season 2 | episode 2: “the privilege” tackles the american horror story for black women

An estimated 600,000 Black women have been pushed out of the labor market since January 2025, according to recent statistics from the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR). It’s no secret that highly aggressive anti-DEI policies and practices in the private sector as well as deep federal government job cuts have contributed to this damning data set. As a result, one of the most highly qualified, educated segments of the U.S. population is sitting on the sidelines of employment.

Just in time for Labor Day, this serious issue gets combined with a supernatural scenario in “The Privilege: A Labor Day Terror.” It is the second episode of Season 2 of  the NYC Podcast and American Writing award-winning audio drama, “Home for the Holidays” by Myth Lab Entertainment, a Black woman-owned production company headed by sisters Kozi Kyles and Kyra Kyles. “The Privilege” injects both humor and horror into a timely national discussion, staying true to their formula of twisted takes on the holidays through an anthology format.

This time, the spotlight is on an MBA-holding operations executive named “Tiffany” who is at the mercy of targeted layoffs, predatory career coaches, and a dwindling 401K account. Tiffany (Joanna Moore) pens a LinkedIn post that catches the attention of a tech bro-coded mogul named “Mark Tucker” (Andrew Ryan) who offers her a high-paying job and membership into his special program, The Privilege. Little does Tiffany know, there is a much higher cost of admission than she could possibly imagine for his mentorship. Iconic voice actor and BET voice of “Cita’s World” kittie KaBoom makes her fourth consecutive appearance in the “Home for the Holidays” franchise as an AI charged with “testing” job candidates for their cultural currency. T.J. Pryor-Wells reprises her role as the velvety voiced, slightly sinister narrator, “Greatmomma.”

“The Privilege” debuts its extended trailer HERE on Sept. 3 with the full episode available for download on all podcast platforms beginning Sept. 10. In the meantime, listeners can catch up on “Home for the Holidays” Season 1, as well as Season 2’s recent debut,  “Invitation to the Cookout,”  starring NFL player-turned-entertainer Anthony “Spice” Adams as well as “The Chi” fan favorite and Hallmark’s “Holiday Touchdown, A Bears Love Story” star La Donna Tittle.
